Grades we cut
We laser cut the full range of common aluminium grades — 5005 for anodising and architectural work, 5052 for general sheet-metal forming and marine applications, 5083 for high-strength marine and structural use, and 6061 for structural and machined components. - File submission — Send drawings in DXF, DWG, or STEP via the quote form below or email. We accept SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, Fusion 360, Rhino and Onshape files. PDFs are accepted for indicative quoting but we’ll need a vector file for production.
- Nesting & optimisation — We nest your parts for maximum material efficiency — a meaningful saving on higher-cost aluminium. Saved nests make re-orders faster to quote and cut.
- Cutting — Aluminium is cut on our TRUMPF machines, calibrated and serviced to maintain accuracy and edge quality.
- Secondary operations — Most parts need more than cutting. We fold, weld (including TIG for aluminium), drill, tap, roll, and finish in-house — 12 operations in total. Aluminium Laser Cutting FAQ
Q1. What grades of aluminium do you laser cut?
We cut all common grades including 5005, 5052, 5083 and 6061, plus other grades and tempers on request. 5083 is recommended for high-strength marine work; 5005 for anodising and architectural finishes.
Q2. Can you laser cut aluminium cleanly given it’s reflective?
Yes. Aluminium is reflective and conducts heat quickly, so it needs the right cutting setup — which we have. We cut for a clean, burr-free edge ready for folding, welding or anodising.
Q3. What is the minimum order quantity?
There is no minimum. We laser cut single aluminium prototypes as readily as batch production runs.
Q4. Can you also fold, weld and finish the aluminium after cutting?
Yes — we offer 12 in-house services including TIG welding for aluminium, folding, drilling, tapping, rolling and surface treatment, so you receive finished parts, not just cut blanks.
Q5. What file formats do you accept?
DXF, DWG and STEP preferred. We accept SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, Fusion 360, Rhino and Onshape files. PDFs for indicative quoting only.
